Happy 4th of July!

Happy Independence Day - a day to celebrate our freedom, enjoy all kinds of tasty food and watch the fireworks light up the sky! No matter how you might be celebrating today, I hope that it's a wonderful day.

As some of you know, I love taking photos of food. It's probably the most common type of photo that I post of my Facebook page. While it's fun to snap photos using the camera on my cell phone, I prefer to use my regular camera to capture the best images.

Included in this post are some food photos that I recently took which capture the essence of summer perfectly. I think you might get hungry as you scroll through these photos. Wink, wink.

Grilled Casper's hot dog, potato salad and grapes

Summer salad with feta cheese and other toppings

Hot fudge sundae with homemade strawberry ice cream

Buttermilk pancakes with fresh blueberries and raspberries

Do you have a favorite summer food and/or beverage? It would be very challenging for me to pick just one thing that I enjoy eating and/or drinking during the summer months because I have so many favorites. A few things that come to mind right away are pink lemonade, my mom's homemade potato salad and chocolate-dipped soft serve ice cream like the treat served at Dairy Queen.

Speaking of ice cream, I am off to enjoy a small scoop of the homemade chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream that I made earlier today using my new Cuisinart ice cream maker. Yum!

Summer Card Camp 2011 - Week 1

It certainly has been awhile since I've posted an entry highlighting one of my latest paper creations and because I originally created this blog to showcase my cards and other paper crafting goodies, I think it's time to do just that!

I recently signed up for the online Summer Card Camp class which began earlier this week. Each week day I receive an email filled with all kinds of card-making inspiration. At the beginning of each week a new color combination is introduced and we are encouraged to use our supplies to create our own card and post it in the class gallery to share with other class participants. It's easy peasy and tons of fun!

So, without further ado, here is my card featuring this week's color combination (as noted in the above graphic):

The following supplies were used to create this card:

Stamps: Papertrey Ink - Cupcake Collection, Flower Fusion 2
Paper: Papertrey Ink - Cardstock; Stampin' Up! - Patterned Paper
Ink: Tsukineko Memento - Bamboo Leaves; Stampin' Up! Classic Ink - Melon Mambo
Embellishments: Felt (Papertrey Ink); Button (Papertrey Ink); Teal Acrylic Bead (Martha Stewart)
Tools: Eyelet Border Punch (Stampin' Up!); Flower Fusion 2 Die (Papertrey Ink)

I hope that you are having a great 4th of July weekend! I'll be back soon with another post featuring photos of some of my favorite all-American summer time foods.
